Is AI cold calling legal in the UK?
Yes — when run compliantly. UK law treats AI cold calls as direct marketing under PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations). The key compliance pillars are: (1) screen every number against the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and Corporate TPS register before dialling, (2) honour opt-outs immediately, (3) identify yourself and your purpose at call start, (4) maintain accurate suppression lists, (5) consent rules under GDPR apply where you process personal data. Live consumer calling without TPS screening attracts ICO enforcement and fines up to £500,000 per infringement. Business-to-business calling is permitted but CTPS-screened. The current ICO guidance applies the same standards to AI-driven calls as to human-driven calls; AI is not a regulatory loophole.
What's the difference between AI cold calling and AI sales SDR?

Will prospects know they're speaking to AI?

How does TPS / CTPS screening work?
TPS (consumer) and CTPS (business) are statutory opt-out registers. Before any call, we screen the number against both registers via their API or batched export. Suppressed numbers never get dialled. Suppression is refreshed daily.
